G20 Summit in Venice - what you need to know
G20 was created in 1999 and it groups the national banks and the ministers of economy and finance of the 20 most industrialized countries, with the aim to cooperate on common strategies to face financial and international crisis.
This year Italy chairs the G20 and the meeting will take place in Venice, from 8th to 11th July 2021. Several meetings and events are on schedule, for instance the global forum on productivity, a symposium about international taxation, a meeting of the ministers of economy and finance and a conference about the climate.
From 7th to 11th July 2021, Venice will be mostly accessible, but the area around the Arsenale will be restricted to the participants and residents and it won't be possible to visit the Biennale during these days. This is the only main pedestrian restriction; the other main limitations will concern navigation, as most of the canals around the Arsenale will be closed to water traffic.
This means that from the 7th to the 11th July boats won't be able to circulate freely around Venice and the Arsenale, Celestia and Bacini stop will be closed.
All other museums and activities will be regularly open, it's most likely that several policemen will be around for security reason and drones, bodycams and video-surveillance will be displayed.
