Venice

We at Luxrest Venice have always been fond of Sant'Erasmo island, in the Venetian lagoon, the garden of Venice, an oasis of peace, immersed in the tranquility of the lagoon.

Have you ever noticed, when hanging around in Venice, strange bas-reliefs above the front doors? Have you ever wondered what they are?

They're called PATERE and they're a typical feature of Venetian architecture, be it religious or civil. They're originally from the 10th Century and they're a decorative motive of houses and churches in the Venetian lagoon area.

Did you now that you can find book-crossing stations all around Venice, on the Lido, Pellestrina, Murano, Burano and Torcello island?

Venice municipality sponsored their making and the stations have been designed and built by the students from the Fine Art Accademy and the Scenography school.

Have fun finding them during your strolls around Venice!

When asked what is the best time of year to visit Venice, most people would answer May or June. It's a reasonable answer: the climate is mild but not too hot yet, days are longer... it's the reason why the shoulder seasons are usually considered high season in art cities. This means that also September and October, in Venice, are part of the high season!

Sunday, the 19th of May 2024 will be the Pentecoste feast, which in Venice is historically associated to one of the main events in town: the Vogalonga!
