Venice: photo exhibition on Suzhou's classic gardens
October in Venice is offering mild and sunny weather, ideal to walk around and get the most of a day-time tour: the days are still long enough to be able to hang around all day long!
This week is offering an interesting and unusual cultural event: an exhibition at Confucio Institute in Venice, in Dorsoduro 3911, displaying beautiful pictures of the Suzhou's classic gardens, part of UNESCO heritage.
You may not know that the city of Suzhou has been twinned with Venice since 1980! But the link between these two cities gets even back further in time: Marco Polo described the beautiful gardens of Suzhou during his journey.
Suzhou's gardens became the model for Chinese gardens and they reproduced the universe in a small scale, through the use of the basic elements like water, stones and plants.
The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm until the 28th October and the entrance is free.
